One rainy, miserable Wednesday Moxie was going through Miss Eunice’s belongings. It was a good day to spend helping her landlord sort things out. As Moxie pulled one more piece of thread-bare clothing out of the black plastic bag, she couldn’t help but wonder why so much of the woman’s old clothing was kept. Much of it was tattered and torn beyond repair and from the appearances of her landlady’s home, need wasn’t an issue.

“Miss Eunice,” Moxie finally got up the nerve to ask, “why have you kept so much of this old clothing? Is it really worth keeping?”

“Yes, I know Moxie, but it cautions me to stay humble. The old garments remind me of the tales I could tell of the times in my life when I’ve only been held together by stitch or two of optimism.
