This Splendid Season

“This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it.”— Ralph Waldo Emerson

A few weeks I ago I was driving on a road which I use quite frequently. But because I’d never been in my new place of residence during this time of year, I hadn’t particularly noticed the treasure box that sits on one corner. What I saw that day made me put on the stops and take time to go through it.” The fabulous show of lilies is what attracted my eye to “Alice’s Gardens.”

I sat on the garden bench for quite some time thinking of my own acre of perennial gardens, which I had in an previous chapter of my life. Although I miss having a large garden to wander through and watch grow, at this stage of life I don’t have the wherewithal to  properly tend to gardens of that enormity anymore. They were quite demanding and took much physical work.

The garden space I now have is very different yet it too has been very satisfying and for this time of my life, its just right.  I am able tend to it the way it ought to be. It makes me sad to see anything neglected. Everything in life is so much prettier and more rewarding when properly cared for and nourished. Wouldn’t you agree?

Later this summer when my plants have had more time to grow and bloom, I hope to share pictures with you. But for today, enjoy Alice’s Gardens. They are worth admiring!
