This Easter, Consider the Lily
Consider the lilies, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. ~ World English Bible
This Easter I am thinking of my paternal Grandmother. Oh how we all miss her! We have wonderful memories of spending this holy day with her and my grandfather.
It just wasn’t Easter unless she had a corsage. My mom, a dutiful and dedicated daughter-in-law scrambled to make sure she had one every Easter Day. She was a large woman and wore it splendidly and proudly!
My Grandmother, now deceased, was our family’s Queen Mother. My mother has taken on the honorable title for her eight grandchildren and her week old great-grandchild, a precious baby boy. There’s much to be grateful for!
Easter is meant to be a sign of hope, renewal and new life. ~ Janine di Giovanni
Sue, thanks for replaying such great memories of Easter. It was always a big deal and fine celebration of spring! I always think of Grandmother and Pop taking the four of us out to shop for our Easter outfits. Spring dresses, patent leather shoes, hats, white gloves the works! Thanks to our grandparents and parents is was always a well celebrated time, full of tradition.
Wonderful memories we have. Easter memories for me are every bit as dear as Xmas memories.
