The Next Gen

You know what I am excited about? Watching the next generation of women in my family as they progress through their adult lives. Each and every one of them are the type that if someone challenges their abilities, they’d each say, “So, you don’t think I can, huh? Watch me!” Strong, determined, gutsy and tenacious because they all greatly admired one of the most resilient women I knew – my mother Helen, their grandmother!

My nieces are now in the prime of their childbearing years and my twin sister’s daughter Kara, who is an architect is expecting any day. She’s been carrying quite a load with a long awaited baby in her womb and as project manager of a big new hotel in the Newport, RI harbor designed by her and her architectural team at Union Studio.

Each one of my many nieces will be great role models for their children. So will my daughter-in-law, Meghan, the mother of my four month old granddaughter, Charlotte Helen.

It’s an exciting time to see the next generation carry the torch and follow their journey. It’s bound to be different in many ways because of the times in which we are living!
