“Think positively and exercise daily, eat healthy, work hard, stay strong, build faith, worry less, read more, and be happy.” ~Anonymous
A Heartfelt Welcome, February! Your arrival reminds me our reaction to life’s challenges affects our heart health. Having a good inner connection with ourselves and our feelings and strong interconnections with others is important.
At the turn of the century, nineteen years ago, I made a big shift in my life. I began a daily regiment of walking. At first I resisted and made every excuse in the book. But after twenty-one days, the routine was mapped in my brain. If I hadn’t started the practice, I have a feeling my own heart health would be quite different.
In winter when the chill is in the air and snow is on the ground, sometimes I have to dig deep to find the self-motivation to walk anyway. Then I remind myself life is a gift I’ve been given. I must take care of myself physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally. That thought is usually enough to get me out the door. And when I return from my walk, I feel even better knowing I didn’t cave and I stood strong against my impulses to take the easy way out.
If you know you need to make a positive change in any aspect of your life, February is as a good month as any to begin.
