“...the planet…. desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers …” ~ David Orr
Do you want to have faith in your country restored? For me, a visit to the Library of Congress is as good as the doctor’s orders. Stepping into the foyer of the LOC is overwhelming; the architecture, a sight to behold!
There’s much work to be done to update the collection of 838 miles of bookshelves (120 million volumes of books) into digital forms and to lead the LOC into the future.
Dr. Carla Hayden, the first woman leader of the LOC and an African-American, was been given the task. She hails from nearby Baltimore, previously head of the Enoch Pratt Library.
I’ll be sharing more about our American treasures, the Museums of Washington, DC on SowtheHeart.com.
