Adopt the pace of nature, her secret is patience. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
I find myself thinking summer will be over any day until I look out the window and see few remarkable elemental differences. Unlike in my previous states of residence, there are no mountains with high elevations which dramatically affects the weather. Here in the mid-Atlantic we ease into the seasons much more slowly without such abrupt seasonal swings.
Oscar Wilde’s description of summer suddenly collapsing into fall more applies to the north country. Thank heavens for that. A reprieve from four decades of living in long, harsh winter conditions has been greatly enjoyed and appreciated by yours truly.
In any region, Mother Nature is mercurial, though. She has her ups and downs just like all of us. With all the rain we’ve had this summer there could be an atypical autumn with an unexpected early arrival. What can one do? Practice patience, that’s all. Practice patience.
