Necessary Steps

Any growth requires a temporary loss of security.

Every autumn I think of children who for the first time are leaving the haven of their homes and entering a classroom. A huge step towards independence.  Each of us probably remembers the mixed feelings we had of fear and excitement of what was to be when we went off to school at the beginning of each year.

Today I’d like to honor all educators for their guidance and stewardship towards the next generation. Teachers are given a huge responsibility because parents have entrusted them with their most precious treasures. Not every individual is endowed with servant leadership skills. The ability to listen, communicate concepts, be empathetic and share awareness with students does make a difference to youth.

Teacher, any frustrating days of feeling as if what you are doing may not make a difference is natural. Anyone who has been a parent or mentor knows the commitment it takes to do it well. We commend you for your commitment to the growth of the next generation! Thank you!
