“Love, above all things, is a commitment to your choice.” ― Rob Liano
A few Saturdays ago, my husband and I witnessed the wedding of two people who are very near and dear to us. The emotions of the bride and groom were clearly observable. Both stood with tears of joy and said vows they had written speaking of each others qualities and what each brings to the union. Their hopes, dreams and actions for deepening their relationship were stated.
There were several deviations from the norm in the wedding proceedings. For one, rather than the groom having a “best man” by his side, the groom’s female cousin stood up for him as “best person” because of the close relationship the two have always shared. One couldn’t help love how this special bond was taken into consideration in the ceremony.
For me the memories of the wedding that will last the longest will be the gathering of people who came long distances out of friendship and love to support the marriage. It’s testimony to the bride and groom’s building of valued relationships with other people.
Thank you to all who had gathered.
