“Sewing small pieces of fabric together gives me a pieceful heart…” ~ Benita Skinner
Last week I’d been running – to and fro, and everywhere. On my one free day I had several choices – go to the writers group to read my work in progress and have it critiqued, learn about better organizing/saving digital historical records with the genealogy group at the library or work on a project which I want to incorporate into an upcoming book talk.
Agonizing over the decision, I turned, looked out the window, and noticed it was snowing hard.
“Why?” I thought. “Why go out in this kind of weather when you have work to do right here the office. Once I made the decision and put my heart into the project, I felt peace, calm and enjoyed what I was doing.
It’s ok, I reassured myself, “Sometimes a girl has to sew in order to reap the benefits later.”
A few days ago I came across words of wisdom from several prominent neuroscience professionals which made me put my guilt feelings in the closet once and for all. Take a few minutes to read it because it may completely change your attitude toward taking time for yourself doing what you love.
What are you doing to sow your soul and lift your spirit this March day?
