Life Long Learning: About Easter
As they say, you learn something new every day. I recently read some facts I didn’t know before about donkeys, of all things! This bit of knowledge came to me just in time for Palm Sunday.
What a cute little fella this Nubian donkey is, isn’t he? Did you know the only kind of animal to bare a cross on their backs are purebred donkeys? Makes me realize what a sleeper I must have been in Sunday School so many decades ago because we most certainly would have learned about The Legend of the Donkey’s Cross around the season of Easter.
If you can find a farm with purebred donkeys show children the markings on the live animal. It will really help kids understand Easter is not just about jelly beans and chocolate eggs. Share the ages old story of Jesus’ resurrection with the next generation. The narrative still has significance today and it is linked to the historic biblical accounting of the events which occurred on Palm Sunday.
Have a Blessed Weekend!
“Our lord has written the promise of resurrection,
not in books alone but in every leaf of springtime.” ~ Martin Luther
