Fresh Starts in New Year
A few weeks ago I went to the movies and saw Mary Poppins Returns. “Approach the movie like the beginning of a new year,” I said to myself, “with fresh eyes without preconceived notions of the way it will be.”
I am mindful of the fact that sometimes we have thoughts of the way we think things should be or the way we want things to be, rather than what is.
Mary Poppins Returns was wonderful. Not the same, different, than the original I’d seen in my childhood. Yet there were undertones of the unforgettable from the first movie. What a different kind of world we’d all be living in if we all, big and small, took these fifteen messages from the movie to heart and lived by them.
In life, sometimes our expectations get in the way, don’t they?
