Farm Stand

Foment Kindness

This summer as I have traveled back roads in northern Baltimore County and up into Pennsylvania, I’ve come across a multitude of farm stands along the side of the road.  Roadside stands are plentiful in this part of the country and I love seeing them. At this juncture the bounty of the earth is piled high.

Some of the stands sit unattended. At one of them I encountered a sign next to the “honesty box” which said, “We feed our faith so our fears will starve.” I loved this so much it moved me to add a few extra coins in the box.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this kind of cultural attitude were better cultivated instead of an environment of distrust and anger? Perhaps there’d be a movement towards a healthier population of people.

I don’t know about you but I am all for scattering seeds of thought like that. In my opinion, the time has come. In America, it’s greatly needed.

P.S. Foment? You might ask. In the next blog post I’ll put the word into the context of my life and a community of readers I’ve so enjoyed spending time with.
