A Feel Good Story
“Cooking with love, baking with heart.”
Do you ever have a day when all you are looking for is a feel good story? I’ve got one for you direct from Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It’s a town with lots of volunteers who live life all fired up with a passion for improving the lives of others. Such is the story of Horizons, a social services organization.
I met the young man featured in this news story and his wonderful parents some ten years ago when I began attending the United Methodist Church in town. Scott Bjorgum, one of the most spirit-filled people I have met exudes joy every Sunday morning when he dances up the aisle to light the candles on the altar for the contemporary church service. This 30 year old fellow has down syndrome yet to anyone who speaks with him about his life, it’s about as fulfilling as it gets.
Take a few minutes to read this story in the Steamboat Pilot about Scott’s latest delight thanks to a Canadian pastry chef, Paul Hanley, a Volunteer with Horizons. He’s helped Scott find his niche in the kitchen! Scott’s discovery of his love for cooking will warm your heart.
