Happy Labor Day! Although we don’t officially say goodbye to summer until September 23, atmospheric and environmental change is already noticeable. The zitzing of the crickets is different, the sun is not as high in the heaven and the tint of twilight arrives every evening a little sooner. Sadly, soon, summer will be only a memory.
Sometimes in summer I feel a little too self-indulgent. Without restriction I want to experience every good thing the season has to offer – like taking in every last second of daylight, savoring every garden delight, swimming about in every opportunity that arrives only in the season of light and bright. Self absorption for me, however, has it’s limits. I suppose that’s why when fall begins to set in, gathering feels good as we reap the harvest and acknowledge the blessings of the past summer with thanksgiving.
Enjoy this 9th month of the year!
