“Goodness is the only investment that never fails.” ~ Henry David Thoreau
Mark your Calendar! September 28 is Good Neighbor Day! A day to be kind to others who perhaps may be feeling socially isolated by their age or some other life circumstance. Even reaching out and extending a little kindness to someone within your own little neighborhood or apartment complex builds connection and community – it doesn’t have to be grand.
I’ve got a little something planned for my elderly neighbor which will not take much time or effort but I am hoping it will help her feel as if she is never alone. Isn’t that the foundation on which friendship is built?
How to be a good neighbor and other important life skills should be taught when children are young So, if you’d like to help spread this concept among youth, check out the school programs of You Are Never Alone Foundation. Their “caring coins” have been given to children, veterans, the elderly. The little tokens of remembrance have even gone worldwide.
Today I’d like to honor the founder of You Are Never Alone Foundation. She’s such a special person. A nurse by profession, naturally she’s compassionate and has a good heart. Some years ago we were “nearby or nearly neighbors” and I’ve enjoyed our connection! I like the way she lives from her values and how she does “life.”
