Book Babble
“The worth of a book is to be measured by what you can carry away from it.”~James Bryce
The Family Dinner Project suggests book babble as a way to encourage children to stay longer at the kitchen table. In an age appropriate manner parents can share with their children the basic storyline of Sew the Heart, my new novel.
Important conversation starters for children include the following themes present in Sew the Heart, a fictional story for teens and adults:
- Gratefulness
- Friendships with people of all ages
- Compassion
- An opportunity to discuss pickles and predicaments – in other words what would you do if you were in this situation?
Books are great conversation starters for people of any age. A benefit of parents sharing themes of books they’ve read with their children brings an opportunity to indirectly share their value of reading. Don’t discount the idea!
