A Word for Independence Day

“Synchronicity is the thread that holds our whole gorgeous tapestry of everyone’s lives together.”

Recently I had the honor of visiting a writers group at a “dynamic lifestyle community” called Broadmead.  The session began with a short five minute writing exercise using a single word to get the brain flowing.

As I listened to each individual’s writing about the word “care” it became apparent that although the group was made up of a diversity of people with unique life journeys and opinions, their thoughts on the word “care” were remarkably similar. One single word brought forth thoughts involving principles of integrity, equality, simplicity, community, stewardship of the Earth, and peace.

On this 4th of July I’m reflecting on our country’s founding fathers. Some were Quakers.  Their guiding principles of “living faithfully in harmony” were written into the laws of the land. In my opinion, when you read the cornerstone documents,  the forefathers of our country envisioned a place where where independence reigns united through kindness and caring for one another. Why has this become so difficult?

Wouldn’t it be a beautiful Universal tapestry if all could live joyfully with simple abundance throughout every season of life?
