“If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed,” ~ U.S. Navy Adm. William H. McCraven
I’ve always been a bed maker, an influence of my mom’s good habits. It seems like nothing is in it’s right place if I go out of the house knowing the bed is not made.
Right now, I’m thinking about my mom since today would have been her 90th birthday. This year she is celebrating in heaven with my Father. Even in her final weeks she dressed and showed up for life every single day. Come what may she hauled herself up out of the bed and then made sure it was made even if it meant getting a little help from my dad or me. What a strong, inspirational woman she was.
One time in my life, when I was making a big life transition, I did go for a short time without regularly making the bed. But it was not right with my soul, and it only made the transition more difficult because it went completely against my nature.
Funny how something as simple as making our bed in the morning can have a big impact. I’d love to hear your thoughts about that. Were you taught the four square corners of bed making, too? If you have something helpful to say about this topic, email me through this website!
Happy Birthday, Mom!
I hope your new dwelling place in the house of the Lord
is more magnificent than you could have ever imagined! Love forever, Sue
