“Star light, star bright, I wish I may I wish I might, wish upon a star tonight.”
Curiosity sure can lead one to interesting places!
Two weeks before Christmas I took a short jaunt to a place that very nearly straddles Harford County and upper Baltimore County. If I wander out these days I really pick and chose places away from the crowds of big chain stores, restaurants and malls. After all, I reason, those kinds of places have been inaccessible to me for 40 years of living in rural Vermont and then in a remote spot in Colorado. Such places have really never been part of my lifestyle or at the top of my favorite things to do.
When I reached my destination, Star Bright Farm,
I discovered the place matched the stellar December day we were having. Not only does the setting of the farm’s beautiful rolling farmland have a pastoral feel, their holistic bath, beauty and home and garden products are designed for rejuvenation and renewal of mind, body and spirit. The artisanally-made inventory in their gift shop is very carefully curated.
The distilling process for their all natural, beautifully scented hydrosols was briefly explained to me by the farm’s owner Mark. It takes large quantities of lavender, verbena and other flowers and herbs to distill down to the final marketable product. The process is interesting and it seems to me is akin to the process of boiling down large quantities of raw sap to make maple syrup often referred to as “liquid gold.” The copper vat in this photo is used to make the hydrosols.
I’ll give you a peek into Star Bright Farm with a couple of my pictures. The best window into the lovely farm can be seen through their fabulous professional photos on Instagram and on their website. Check them out and don’t miss out on reading the family’s personal story about how Star Bright Farm came to be.
Note: Health safety practices are always a priority at Star Bright Farm. Thus, the farm offers a Private Group shopping (POD shopping) complete with herbal tea or champagne and culinary treats). Create your own small gathering with a unique and safe way to shop at the center of the experience.
Let’s close the door today on the 2020 “Pandemic Christmas.” Shall we?
