Two Chicks

Creatures Great and Small

It’s spring and all creatures are coming out of hiding after being hunkered down deep this winter.

My sister, Jan, has been busy painting in her creative space, in the dark season. We invite you to visit the first collection of acrylic paintings from Jan’s Brush Strokes.  Woodland Creatures Portfolio . Welcome Spring and Welcome to Jan’s Brush Strokes.

Jan has been creating acrylic decorative art for twenty five years. In a blog I posted a few years ago I mentioned my wish was that she pick up the paintbrush again. I’m so happy she has.

Her bright, cheerful, light-hearted and sometimes whimsical, paintings have taken form on pictures, tavern and welcome signs, door crowns, key holders, pizza paddles and cutting boards, wooden birdhouses, seasonal ornaments and much more.

Painting on wood is her favorite. Her florals and herbs, still life and holiday scenes, animals, water and harbor landscapes also have appeared on canvas, canvas board, bisque ceramics, chalkboard, baskets and fabric.

Do you have a sentimental, old or antique, wooden item hiding in your basement or attic? Bring it out! Let Jan see it! She will add her touch of new life to it with color, vibrancy and fun. What a great way to pass along a keepsake to the next generation or to give as an unexpected birthday surprise or as a wedding or baby gift. Jan will work with you one idea and one brush stroke at a time. To get in touch with her,  email her at jansmolca@gmail.com.
More to come as as we enter a new season on SowtheHeart.com . Do visit our new page called Twin Creations.
where there are two newly posted portfolios of work – Jan’s Woodland Creatures and Sue’s Needle Felted Pictures.
