Where the spirit does not work with the hand there is no art. — Leonardo da Vinci
Over Mother’s Day Weekend there was a wonderful Flower Sale at the United Methodist Church I attend in town. I made a purchase that made my heart so happy not only because I loved the flowering Mandevilla vine but also the hand painted pot it is in is so cheery! There were so many choices of flowers which had been planted in beautiful containers. Such as a vintage vase in the shape of a woman’s high heeled shoe, petunias in beautiful teacups, cacti in terra cotta pots faced with stones, painted boxes and baskets filled with coordinating colorful posies. Oversized wine glasses with strings of pearls succulents spilling out of them. All had personality plus to add pizzazz to any room or outdoor living space.
If you have never attended any kind of fundraising events in your community for local churches, try them out! You can find reasonable bargains. More importantly many very talented people, like Beverly who hand painted the pretty pot and has found her God-given creative streak, will find fulfillment as an artist knowing someone likes what she is creating! Supporting artists in the faith community as well as in your hometown galleries and neighboring communities is important. Don’t miss out!
And a Happy Memorial Day weekend to all. Enjoy your local community activities.
