Community Outreach

Art pulls a community together … Art makes you feel differently. ~ Lister Sinclair

The Harford Artist Association in Bel Air, MD is providing a valuable service through their community art outreach program.  The Harford Center is a non-profit organization which provides socialization opportunities  to integrate individuals with disabilities into community life. Treating all people with respect and dignity and developing their skills is important to their mission as well.

A St. Patrick’s Day themed-art workshop was recently held and the volunteers got as much enjoyment visiting with the individuals associated with the Hartford Center as the participants did in doing their St. Patty’s Day craft.

Care was taken to choose a project to accommodate various skill levels. I enjoyed seeing how each person approached their work differently, some very methodically, some more haphazardly. Some individuals worked faster than others. It is the way all human beings perform. Individuality is evident with any creative endeavor as the crafter or maker incorporates his or her own vision and style into the project.

Today, I share a few March shamrocks with you, all made from individuals who enjoy the benefits of their lives being enriched through the Harford Center of Havre de Grace, Maryland.
